In her dissertation, Subin examines work and family life trajectories of individuals across varying institutional contexts, with a specific focus on gender. Employing an array of sequence analysis techniques, she quantitatively assesses gender differences across generational cohorts and visualizes these trends. The first section provides a comparative analysis of life trajectories among five successive cohorts from eastern and western Germany, exploring empirical evidence of gender convergence over the course of a century. Subsequent chapters extend this analysis to additional institutional contexts, such as South Korea, to offer a comparative perspective. Here, she investigates how gendered work-family trajectories influence women’s well-being, contributing valuable insights into the broader impact of institutional frameworks on gendered life paths.
